Migrants to the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries
This significantly timed research on migration is collecting data concerning the migration behavior of Nepali migrants to the Gulf countries on: 1) migrant values and behavior; 2) migrant spending, saving, and remittances; 3) migrant plans concerning their departures from the Gulf; 4) comparisons of migrants and their influences in the different Gulf countries; and 5) comparison of migrants to the Gulf with their counterparts who did not migrate.
This research is expected to provide insights into many of these issues by studying migrants to the Gulf and how they influence their host countries. The data collection is currently on-going.
An innovative element of this research is the use of telephone interviewing techniques to call migrants in the Gulf countries. This is the first study of its kind in Nepal.
